Things Only a Pirates Fan Would Say

Several thoughts came to mind as I was looking at the baseball standings last night ... things that a Red Sox fan would never think.
1. Wow, look, we're no longer in last place.
2. Whoo hooo! We're only 2 games under 500!
3. Can we play the Nats every night?
4. (and speaking of the Nats) Wow, I thought we sucked. Nice to know we're aren't the worst team in baseball
5. (followed quickly by) Gee, I hope this doesn't screw up our draft pick next year.

Sometimes it's fun to be a Pirates fan.

Glee - I think I'm in love ...

I think I finally found the long awaited replacement for Buffy for my TV love. Glee is the most superfantabulous show ever. I have to admit, at first I was skeptical. Mainly because 1. It's on Fox; 2. It was hyped like crazy; 3. They were using American Idol to pimp the show. And really, a one-hour comedy about a Glee club? Really? I am happy to report I could not have been more wrong. Of course, being a theatre geek, the fact they were pulling in a bunch of Broadway performers was a great choice. Lea Michele literally hits you in the face with her talent - she reminds me of a young Idina Menzel. But what was even better was the writing. The character is the best high school bitch since Tracy Flick from Election. I loved her background story about her two dads. The rest of the casting is just as pitch-perfect (if you'll pardon the pun). Janet Lynch as the cheerleading coach is awesome. And it was fun spotting the ex-Heroes starts (I think I counted three). Do yourself a favor - watch this show. It's funny with a wicked (or should I say Wicked) twist.

It's Getting Better All The Time ...

Getting out of my funk a bit - thanks, Jynx, for the kind words. Starting again to try to balance life a bit better. This weekend, we went to the local Greekfest, which was well worth the time (as for the calories ....). The primary motivation was the food. We had gyros (both girls love lamb sandwiches, believe it or not), the flaming cheese (and darned if I can remember how to spell the real word for it), and way too much syrupy, deep fried goodness. And to think we almost didn't go because I was feeling lazy. Let that be a lesson for you: never let laziness get in the way of good food.

Oh, by the way, did I mention I'm starting my diet (again, some more) today?

Wowsy, Wowsy Woo Woo

Ever have one of those days ...er..months...er...you know what I mean. Been feeling really down lately. It's kind of a bummer because things aren't going poorly, just feeling kind of useless, if you know what I mean. It'll pass, it always does, but I have to admit I'm getting sick of feeling like this. Part of it is the job. I mean, yay, I still have one, but talk about feeling worthless. I'd really like to know when making someone feel totally useless because the new black for management. I'm thinking it's not a good sign when your career ambition is retirement.

The family is good. Book Expo is this month. Just want time to move on so I can get out this funk.
