Back Again

Anybody miss me?

Anyway, have a couple of thoughts floating around my pea brain of varying degrees of importance, so here goes:

1. Hate - anybody realize how frequently we use this word? I hate artichokes, I hate my job, I hate [fill in the blank]. Do we really hate all these things? Or are there only aspects that we dislike. How intensely do you have to dislike something to say that you HATE it? I just think it's overused. For example, my job makes me uncomfortable and cranky, but do I really hate it? I like the money it gives me, and on occasion, I can accomplish things. Yeah, I'm not crazy about it, but does it really reach the hate level? And what kind of person/society does it make for with all this so-called "hate" being bandied about? Just thinkin'

2. Joy - I realized today as I came into work that I'm really worried about my kids and their future. I so want them to enjoy their adult life as much as they enjoy their childhood. What happens that seems to make us so much less joyful as we grow-up? Does it have something to do with item 1?

3. Yellow sweatpants - do not believe the fallacy that sweatpants come in any color. They do not. I spent an entire weekend proving this. I "hate" yellow sweatpants.

YAY! I definitely missed you! It's good to hear what's going on in your head... even if it IS a yellow sweat pant obsession! =P~ *eg*

Yeah, I try not to use the word "hate" too much. There's a lot of stuff that I don't like, that makes me uncomfortable or frustrated, but I don't hate all of it. As a matter of fact, thinking about it, I only truly "hate"/ "loathe" one or two things.

I would love for all kids to keep the same joy they have when young so they could grow up to be happy adults. I'm not sure, but I think part of it is that our imagination is tainted. And then there's the icky experiences...

I can't say we have the dreaded yellow sweatpant dilemma out here... but, if it's anything, we still suffer a LOT from baggy-falling-off-the-butt pants and low-rise-to-the-crotch jeans out here... =)

The yellow sweatpants thing has to do with the school play ... apparently, the teacher has determined a tuna must wear a blue t-shirt and yellow sweatpants. (grumble, grumble)

I've been really aware of the "hate" thing lately too. I heard my oldest telling my youngest the other day that he hates him. I realized that they don't know the strength of that word because they hear it so often. I use it way more than I should. I "hate" Michael Waltrip. I "hate" my job. I "hate" the cold. It's my repsonsibilty to watch my language so that my kids understand the power of words. I'm going to be a lot more careful in the future. There are very few things I really hate.

Joy - I find that the joy I have as an adult comes from my kids. They take such pleasure in the little things, that I am rediscovering the joy in them too. Most of the things that I loved so much as a kid would still make me as happy, but my laziness keeps me from doing them.

Do you need us to check for yellow sweatpants around here? (I'm amazed that they don't have tons of yellow everything that close to Pittsburgh).

Good point about the yellow, Izza! (I hadn't even thought about that.)

So, Paula, what's the status of the tuna??? =P~

Thanks for the offer, Izza. The teacher said the ones we found would work. As for yellow in Pittsburgh? Shirts only rule, I guess. *grumble, grumble* Thing that really irritates me is that I'm going to be in California when they do the play so I won't even get to see it. On the bright side, our bright pink tuna hat came in yesteray.

Ok, now I'm going to need to see pictures. A tuna hat? Awesome. :)
